Community Outreach Programs

The mission of Writers & Books Outreach Programs is to give, to as many members of the greater Rochester community as possible, a positive experience of creative writing and reading.

We give many people their first chance to see themselves as authors. We do this through two “Write Where You Are” programs, “Writers in the Schools” and “Writers in the Community.”

Published writers—poets, dramatists, fiction writers, essayists and autobiographers—go out into classes, recreation centers, settlement houses, hospital rooms, and programs for special populations to guide our citizens, ages 6 through 106, in the joys of journaling and creative writing.

Out of these programs, we have published almost 100 anthologies over the past decade and had scores of celebratory readings and performances.
