What’s Happening at Writers & Books? October 2007 Programs & EventsAn Evening with Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Eat, Pray, Love.Wednesday October 3, 8:00 pm Attention: Due to overwhelming demand An Evening with Elizabeth Gilbert has had a change of venue. The Event will now be held at the Performance Hall of Hochstein School of Music and Dance at 50 N. Plymouth Ave, Rochester NY 14614. The time of the event has been changed to 8:00 pm. "She has an awful lot of humor and charm, and she's one of those few writers who writes the way she talks." And talks the way she writes, with intelligence, wit, and not just a shade of performer behind her expressive and insightful presentations. Expansive and armed with a comic's sense of timing, journalist, novelist and short story writer Elizabeth Gilbert talks about her writing and her books. Her most recent is the best-selling memoir, Eat, Pray, Love (Viking, 2006) which chronicles the year she spent traveling around the world in search of personal restoration after a difficult divorce. Her collection of short stories, Pilgrims, has just been rereleased. The Bertrand Russell SocietyHosted by: Dr. David White The Bertrand Russell Society was formed shortly after Russell's death in 1970. Russell was born in 1872 and working in fields such as mathematical logic; philosophy, social, religious and educational reform; anti-war protests and politics. An accomplished writer, Russell received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950. This ongoing lecture series promises to enlighten and entertain. Monthly meetings are open to everyone, not just members of the Bertrand Russell Society. This meeting will feature Alfred Geier on BR's critique of Plato.
