Instructor Bios 25 And Under: Rochester's Young Writers Read1. Colleen Damerell, 11th grader from Brighton High School. She is a Sokol Award winner in the poetry category. She has attended classes at Writers & Books in the past. She works on her school's Art & Literary Magazine, entitled,Galaxy. Next year she will be one of the Editors-in-Chief. When she's not writing, she is on a bowling team 2. Karis M. Schneider, 11th grader from Brighton High School. She is a long-time writer, mostly of fiction, the category in which she is Sokol Award winner. She is also very involved in music. She plays violin and percussion and she plays with the RYPO. She also recently helped write lyrics for a musical at her school, which was a wonderful opportunity to combine her love of writing with her love of music. 3. Kara Alexander is a senior from School of the Arts. She is a SOkol Award winner in the category of poetry. She has been very active with teen slam here in Rochester. In fact, last year, she was part of the team that represented Rochester at regionals in NYC and nationals in San Jose, California. 4. Giulia Perucchio, a senior from School of the Arts, where she is a Creative Writing Major. She is a Sokol Award winner in the category of fiction. After graduating, she will be spending a year in Italy, studying Italian at a high school, as they have a 5th year of high school in Italy. She's looking forward to this opportunity, as her family is from Italy and she's eager to be immersed in the language and culture. |
