Maltese Falcon Gala

Julie Rivett gave a speech titled, "Nesting Fiction in Fact: The Maltese Falcon in San Francisco," when she accepted Writers & Book's Sense of Place award for her grandfather Dashiell Hammett and his novel The Maltese Falcon.

Special Guests: Julie M. Rivett, granddaughter of Dashiell Hammett, will be in attendance to accept Writers & Books’ annual “Sense of Place” Literary award on behalf of Dashiell Hammett.

Writers & Books 2008Sense of Place Award , given annually to a writer “whose books evince in the reader a memorable glimpse into a particular time and place,” will be given posthumously to Dashiell Hammett.

Accepting the award on behalf of Dashiell Hammett will be his granddaughter Julie M. Rivett.

Julie M. Rivett is the co-author of Selected Letters of Dashiell Hammett: 1921 – 1960.
