The Getaway Guy: Road Trip Getaways with Mike O'Brian Discussion and Book Signing

Thursday, June 25, at 7:00 pm
In the Performance Space at W&B
$4 W&B members, $6 general public

Looking for something to do? The Getaway Guy: Road Trip Getaways with Mike O'Brian is a travel guide offering 50 unique and exciting places to visit throughout Upstate and Western New York. Experience places you've never seen before, or have a look inside something you may have driven by a dozen times but just haven't stopped in yet. From dinner cruises to country getaways, there's something for everyone in this fun-filled 128 page paperback. The book comes complete with maps, pictures and all the necessary information on each destination, including Mike's insider tips.

The Getaway Guy has taken all the stress out of traveling to these 50 remarkable nearby locales. The Getaway Guy makes the perfect gift for friends and family, and it fits right into your car's glovebox for those spontaneous adventures!

Born in Corning, New York, Mike O'Brian began his broadcasting career in 1971 at Rochester radio station WSAY. Stations like WBBF and WVOR followed with a brief time in Tampa, Florida at WQXM radio. Mike's
on-air experience in radio prepared him for his career in television. He joined RNEWS in 1995 for the launch of its 24-hour news channel and is known for his TV travels around the state as The Getaway Guy.

In addition to New York State getaways, Mike loves traveling the back roads of the New England Coast along with a week or two during the winter in the Caribbean. The American southwest is also a favorite
destination.

In between getaways, Mike devotes his years of commercial voice-over experience as president and director of The American Broadcasting Institute, his own broadcasting school designed to teach people how to
break into the world of voice-over work.

There's not a lot of spare time left in a day, but when there is, Mike enjoys working in his back yard, entertaining friends and working off some occasional stress at the gym. Most of the time you'll find Mike
behind the wheel, off on another road trip ready to enjoy his greatest passion.
