Children's Scholarship Fund

We here at Writers & Books are committed to making our SummerWrite classes available to both those children who can pay their way and those children who need scholarship assistance! We know that receiving the opportunity to take a class will enable a young person to grow & learn and can be life-changing! This year, more than any other, we have a waiting list for children requiring scholarships. We would love to give as many children as possible this chance! Please consider making a small donation today. Even a few dollars can help make it possible for us to provide scholarships to our waiting list of students.

"My child has always been driven to write but in this class she was able to let her imagination just go. After the first day she left a note under my pillow thanking me for enrolling her in the class." -Parent of SummerWrite scholarship participant

"Dear Writers & Books, You have been a great help to me. I can now write better and my thoughts are constantly flowing through my head... both teachers helped me to write with more detail. I am now getting higher grades in school. I hope to see you guys again soon." -Scholarship Student

"I saw my 6 year old son get excited about reading and storytelling, my 8 year old daughter step out of her comfort zone and share her writing with others, my 10 year old daughter gain an interest in writing, and all three gain confidence in their writing. Thank you for making it possible for our children to attend the classes." -Parent of SummerWrite scholarship participant

"My three children that attended Writers & Books really received writing skills that will help them this school year and school years to follow. You went above and beyond to help my children attend this summer." -Parent of SummerWrite scholarship participant

"The reading list was marvelous. I have had my children in special library classes for almost a decade now, and I was pleased and surprised that you found close to fifty books I had not seen on Reading Rainbow or in a library class setting... after the last day of class my daughter took crayons and a blank sheet of paper and, with no other assistance, attempted to draw a map of all the continents of the world." -Parent of SummerWrite scholarship participant

Summer 2009 Catalogue Now Online

Not everyone appreciates the journey. That is why writers join organizations of other writers. That is why they take writing workshops and join reading seminars with other writers. And that is why you’re reading this catalog. You know that other writers will tell you where the quicksand is, and the wild dogs. And if you’re new to it, they won’t ask, What are you doing that for? They’ll know. Oh, and one other thing: they’ll be glad to see you.

All courses for Adults, Kids and Teens for Summer are now online and available for registration online or over the phone.
