FALLEN ASIA

Asia slipped off the Earth today
Leaving just a town or two
An empty city
With its nightlife in an endless ecstacy
A painless sort of empty
No one knew what it would do to Europe to take her
Asia away
Remember darling, this was after government
After war
After burning blue hurt
This was just the sister link of the Earth
Holding no ties to the then and soon
It was an—always has been always will be—
Oil smoke—fresh from a lamp
Filled the empty where Asia was
But made no new land
Just a people-eating quagmire
That sucked checked-cloth placemats
And puzzle pieces down
No one said goodbye to Asia when she slipped away
No one welcomed the absence of heritage
No one wept a single tear
Asia just slipped away–
Taking her Indian Elephant
Her beautiful amber skin
And watching almond eyes
3With her
