Hiking the Finger Lakes Trail

I hear the gurgling of a nearby stream,
I see a spot so I sit and daydream.
I taste the thick and moist air.
I stop to feel a mushroom’s layer.
I smell the perfume of Queen Anne’s Lace,
and I recognize a bullfrog’s face.
I hear the rapid woodpecker’s beat.
I take off my shoes and let the moss feel my feet.
I see the willow wave her branch,
but not completely, I take another glance.
I taste the fruit of a blueberry plant,
and I run down a hill that has a slant.
I halt to smell the freshness of pine.
Nothing can stop me from having a great time!
