Locked Hate

I gaze into my mirror,
and welcome the reflection I see.
War is in my eyes,
and lightning in my soul.
Menacing clouds cover my thoughts,
and my mind rumbles with hate.
I embrace death
and steal life.
Maybe this is why…
I am in jail.

Pushed Back

The flames burn deep within the souls of trees,
the waves of the sea are filled with glory
rising to meet the sun,
and the creatures fill the afternoon with movement.
But a thick smog clouds my eyes
so I can watch no more,
and I am blown away from the tranquil light
back to the metal cage people call a home.
