Poetry Reading for Poets
- FA6-R41
- Four Tuesdays, November 1 through 22, 7-9 pm
- $75 W&B members / $79 general public
- Instructor: Donna Marbach
How do the best poets use the elements of craft in their works? Why does Emily Dickinson capitalize some of her words? What is e.e. cummings point in playing with punctuation? How does Robert Frost use rhyme so subtly and musically? Good poets are readers as well as writers of poetry. In this seminar, participants will read major and minor poets whose work has had great influence. Everyone should purchase (or obtain from the library) a copy of Garrison Keillor’s Good Poems as the key text. The instructor will also provide other material for use in class. In addition to closely reading and discussing poetry, the instructor may also use DVD sound and/or video records of poets reading their own works. (Register for The Elements of Craft for Poets at the same time and receive a 10% discount on each class.)
Register online (note: payment online will not handle the discount.)
