Poetry: Continuing the Journey

J10-P01
5 Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Aug. 3 through 31
$93 W&B members / $98 general public
Instructor: Charles Coté

This is a workshop for those who have either taken a poetry class, or have some experience writing poems and sharing them with friends or at an open mic, and now want to deepen their practice. Students will read one another’s poems, and workshop them in a supportive atmosphere under the guidance of an experienced teacher, helping to enable them to venture forward with their art. Discussions will also focus on selected essays on poetry. Also a suitable workshop for more advanced students.

Image and ‘Imag’ination

J10-P02
1 Saturday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
August 21
$39 W&B members / $43 general public
Instructor: Karen Lee Lewis

How can the art of photography help us explore image making and ‘imag’ination in poetry? In this workshop we will explore imagery beyond visual reproduction. How can we create stronger images in our work? What elements of art making are shared between poetry and photography? Bring a photograph to the workshop that you’d like to write to, or choose one that inspires you from photographs the instructor will bring.
