The Art of Interviewing

F12-J01
4 Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Oct. 5 through 26
$87 W&B members / $93 general public
Instructor: Saby Reyes-Kulkarni

Now a staple of every conceivable media format, the interview has become an ever-present aspect of modern life. But interviewing isn’t nearly as easy as it looks – it’s an art form that requires technique, planning, spontaneity, and even a healthy measure of cunning and gamesmanship. With some practice, though, the interview process can be immensely rewarding. In this workshop, participants will learn how to come up with great questions, develop a comfortable rapport, and deal with some common stumbling blocks like tight-lipped subjects and unexpected detours. Fun-filled exercises include coming up with questions for any real or fictitious figure from history, play-by-play analysis of some classic interviews, and a live in-person Q&A conducted as a group. Whether you’re already experienced, just starting out, pursuing journalism, or working on another type of project, this workshop will help you get those juicy quotes!
